EL CORREO DE ANDALUCÍA' IS NOW PART OF THE GROUP PRENSA IBÉRICA
Prensa Ibérica incorporates to its already large media network the dean of the Sevillian press: El Correo de Andalucía, founded in 1899, a reference for current affairs information in the autonomous community.
With this incorporation, the communications group now publishes 27 printed and digital newspapers throughout Spain.
Regarding the recent acquisition, the president of Prensa Ibérica, Javier Moll, declared that “the acquisition of El Correo de Andalucía strengthens our position in this region, helps us to gain capillarity and is the most evident proof of our firm commitment to a community of great projection and extraordinary human capital”.
For the group, Andalusia is of a strategic nature. Already in 1999 it launched La Opinión de Málaga. In addition, in 2019 it integrated Diario de Córdoba, with the purchase of Grupo Zeta.
For El Correo de Andalucía there is a relaunching plan, which coincides with the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the historic media. According to an official statement, this plan aims to “facilitate the modernization of the newspaper by boosting its digitalization with the most advanced technologies and a value proposition that, editorially and for the benefit of readers, allows an increase and improvement of the contents, as well as an optimal adaptation to the information needs of today’s society”.
The document also states that “from the vocation of service and commitment to the Andalusian people that El Correo de Andalucía has demonstrated over the years, Prensa Ibérica will launch a project with aspirations of leadership in the region”.
Prensa Ibérica is a group dedicated to regional and local communication in Spain. With the incorporation of El Correo de Andalucía, it already has 27 printed and digital newspapers, in addition to almost 70 local chronicles and several magazines. The group’s newspapers include El Periódico, El Periódico de España, Faro de Vigo, La Nueva España, Levante-EMV, Información, Diario de Mallorca and La Provincia.
Altogether it has two million readers through 217,000 printed copies. On the Internet, its publications have more than 27 million unique visitors and nearly 600 million page views per month.
