NEXOTUR AWARDS 'PROTAGONISTS OF TOURISM', INCLUDING JOURNALIST ALBERTO BARCIELA
Journalist Alberto Barciela has been honored in Madrid as one of the Protagonists of Tourism in Spain and Ibero-America in a tribute before more than three hundred guests at the Gala Dinner of the 25th anniversary of the NEXO group’s website. The ceremony was held on Tuesday night, January 23, 2024, at the Novotel Madrid, as part of the Pre FITUR events, which complement the Ibero-American Congress of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs organized by NEXOTUR.
“The best way to celebrate this anniversary,” acknowledged Eugenio de Quesada, president of the NEXO Group and CIMET during his speech, “is to pay tribute to the men and women of the Spanish travel industry who deserve it, expressing public recognition to the true protagonists of tourism, who are those who, as entrepreneurs and professionals, manage the first sector of our economy and have led it to a happy recovery and its best historical moment.
The great hotel, travel agency and hospitality entrepreneurs, transport company executives, tourism ministers and presidents of professional associations were among the list of 100 personalities from the world of travel who received the NEXOTUR medal, 25th anniversary as Protagonists of Tourism personalities for more than two decades.
Alberto Barciela, journalist and businessman, is a member of the Bureau of Tourism of Spain, of the Association of Tourism Professionals, and as press officer of the President of Galicia, Manuel Fraga, and of the Xunta was responsible for the launching worldwide, since 1990, of the Galicia brand, of the Roads of Santiago, of XACOBEO, of GALICIA CALIDADE, or of the School of History of Galicia, besides being the ideologist of the City of Culture and art spaces such as ARTVG.
He is also World Vice-President of EditoRed, Association of Publishers of Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and directs its International Congresses. The journalist from Redondela, Television Academic, has been distinguished with numerous awards such as the Álvaro Cunqueiro National Award for Gastronomic Journalism, the Golden Antenna of the Association of Radio and Television Professionals of Spain or the Ibero-American Audiovisual Market Award, among others.
